Drum Totem by Alassane Drabo, in Tompkinsville Park, is a structure of oil drums accented with found driftwood and West African drums that can be played to form a drum circle.

ALASSANE DRABO is a Sculptor from Burkina Faso, West Africa who is living and working in NYC. He studied at Atelier Polyvalent d’ Art Plastique. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions such as: The International Biennial of Contemporary African Art, Dakar, Senegal; Design 21, Felissimo Design House, NYC; Unesco House, Paris, France; The Thamy Myele Foundation for Art in Amsterdam, Holland; Wallonie Bruxselle Center for Art, Paris, France. He is the recipient of several awards including: The Journalist and Critics Award for Africa, The Union Monetary West African Prize for Art, The Art Omi Residency, Gent, NY, and The Arts and Letters Award, Burkina Faso. He has been featured in publications including The Wall Street Journal and the book Design en Afrique. He is the founding member of The Association of Friends in Art and the curator of the The Station: a mobile exhibition in a transit bus. Drabo was recenty selected to participate in The New York Foundation for the Arts, Immigrant Artist Program.
