Wind Harp No. 7 by Scott Van Campen, in Maker Park, is an Aeolian wind harp with steel strings that will “sing” as a result of the “von Kármán Vortex Street,”a repeating pattern of swirling vortices.

SCOTT VAN CAMPEN is the Co-founder and Executive Director of Staten Island MakerSpace, Hurricane Sandy flooded his business, New York Custom Fabricators. In partnership with the NYC Economic Development Corporation, Scott was able to bring his vision of a community-based workshop as a small business incubator to Staten Island. Scott holds a BFA from Maryland Institute, College of Art as well as an A.A.S. in Graphic Design. He has been a ‘maker’ for over 25 years, creating sculptures, furniture, vehicles, and instruments. His architectural metalwork can be seen in private residences, storefronts, museums, and restaurants all over the City. Clients include: Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Stella McCartney, the Museum of the Chinese in the Americas, and Cartier. Scott has created, guided, and managed the development of industrial fabrication at Staten Island MakerSpace, including metal, wood, and textile facilities, and has expanded its digital fabrication capabilities.
